Your Guide to Stress-Free Shipping: Domestic & International

Sending personal belongings? Follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure journey for your items:

  • What Not to Pack: For safety reasons, do not include liquids or flammable items in your shipments. Also, please avoid packing sharp objects or knives that could tear through packaging and pose a hazard.
  • Moisture Protection: We recommend placing clothes inside plastic bags to protect them from any potential moisture exposure.
  • Handle with Care: When shipping fragile items, be generous with bubble wrap and other cushioning materials to prevent breakage.
  • Special Declarations: If your shipment includes lithium-ion batteries or any other hazardous items, it’s crucial to let us know. For a list of items that may be restricted, please contact our store before you pack.
  • Pack Smart: Make sure your boxes are a manageable weight and size for one person to lift. Dividing heavy items, like books, into multiple smaller boxes is a great strategy.
  • Always Label Inside: As a backup, always place a piece of paper with your address and telephone number inside each box.
  • Reinforce Your Boxes: Securely tape all seams of your boxes, and choose sturdy, double-walled boxes whenever possible for added protection.

Seamless Shipping to the U.S. for Your Personal Belongings

Relocating to the United States? Get a head start and call us today for expert guidance!

To ensure a smooth customs experience, we advise reviewing the requirements for shipping used personal items on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

What You’ll Need: Generally, shipping personal items to the U.S. requires documentation proving your U.S. residency (e.g., Student Visa, Work Visa, U.S. Green Card, or U.S. Passport). This documentation must be submitted along with U.S. CBP Form 3299 (cbp_form_3299_0 )  (“Declaration for Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles”) and a copy of your passport.

Key Information for Non-U.S. Citizens: Please be aware that non-U.S. citizens must already be physically present in the U.S. to receive unaccompanied household goods. This means if you are moving to the U.S. for the first time, your personal items can only be shipped after you have arrived.

Our team is ready to provide more details on this specific requirement and discuss any storage options for your suitcases at our store.
